Braces' Cost
We Accept Insurance & Financing
Many dental insurance providers cover braces' cost and other orthodontic treatments. We can work with your provider to maximize your benefits and limit out-of-pocket expenses. Our Orland Park dental office also accepts CareCredit® financing. These payment plans can ensure that your treatment plan fits your budget.
Metal Braces & Clear Aligners
Factors That Shape the Cost of Orthodontics
Metal braces are typically less expensive than other orthodontic solutions, such as Invisalign. There are many factors that can affect the overall cost of your braces or orthodontic aligners, such as:
Extent of Work
The complexity of your case is a major factor in determining the cost of your treatment. Severe misalignments, issues that require extended treatment timelines, or specialized orthodontic appliances in addition to traditional metal braces will increase your overall cost.
Preparatory Procedures
If you have teeth that need to be extracted or you have other related concerns that must be treated before undergoing orthodontic work, both the timeline and the cost of your treatment will be affected. Your dentist may recommend additional preparatory appliances, including palatal expanders or spacers, or treatment for decay and dental damage before placing your braces.
Duration of Treatment
Straightening crooked or gapped teeth is a gradual process that requires a significant time investment. The longer you need to wear braces or Invisalign, the more expensive your treatment will be.
Materials You Choose
Orthodontists use several different materials for braces which carry different costs. Traditional brackets and wires are made of metal, though in recent years, dentists have begun offering ceramic, tooth-colored braces, as well as clear braces which have less of an effect on the appearance of your smile.
Timing
Early, or Phase 1, treatment is typically done between the ages of six and 10 before all the permanent teeth have erupted. The price of braces and appliances for Phase 1 differ significantly from the cost of braces later in life. It is important to discuss with our orthodontist, Dr. Amer Shammaa, whether Phase 1 treatment would be beneficial for your child.
Invest in Your Appearance
& Future Health
Even slight misalignment in your bite can lead to serious dental issues if left untreated. Crooked teeth are harder to clean, leading to an increased risk of gum disease, for example. Undergoing orthodontic treatment can prevent future oral health concerns and costly follow-up procedures, protecting your smile.
